Seminary Training

Do you want to receive more formal training in missiology and theology? A seminary degree can be beneficial to ministry overseas and prepare you for the task of translating scripture, planting a church, and/or discipling new believers in an unreached context.

Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary | Wake Forest, North Carolina

We are a Great Commission seminary. Our reach from Wake Forest, North Carolina now extends across the globe. We aim to make God’s Kingdom vision of people from every tribe, tongue and nation worshiping Christ together a reality on our campus and in our churches (Revelation 7:9).

Fuller Seminary | Pasadena, California

Fuller Seminary is an evangelical, multi denominational graduate institution committed to forming global leaders for kingdom vocations. Responding to changes in the church and world, Fuller is transforming the seminary experience for both traditional students and those beyond the classroom: providing theological formation that helps Christ followers serve as faithful, courageous, innovative, collaborative, and fruitful leaders in all of life, in any setting.

Southern Baptist Theological Seminary | Louisville, Kentucky

The mission of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary is to be totally committed to the Bible as the Word of God, to the Great Commission as our mandate, and to be a servant of the churches of the Southern Baptist Convention by training, educating, and preparing ministers of the gospel for more faithful service.

Hands-On Experience

Short-term or Midterm trips are a great opportunity to get hands-on training with the nations and see if long-term missions work is where God wants you. It is also a great opportunity to engage the nations if long term missions is not for you. Engaging in hands-on experiences will allow you to practice the concepts and  knowledge about missions that you have learned first hand alongside others.

Go Short Term: A short term trip is anywhere from 2 weeks to 1 year and allows you to see first hand what life on the mission field is like.

GenSend North American Mission Board | Through NAMB’s GenSend Programs you can spend your college breaks (winter, spring, and summer) serving overseas and learning, evangelizing, and engaging the nations first hand.

ABWE |If you’re not sure if long-term missions is right for you or if you’re not able to commit to a career in missions right now, our adult short-term program is for you. This program is designed for those who want to explore or confirm God’s call into full-time missions by spending less than one year with one of our long-term field teams.

Reaching & Teaching | Do you have the gift of teaching and a heart for ministry? Reaching & Teaching leads theological training trips in partnership with our established global partners. Through a nine-module program, we help bring essential Biblical training to church leaders worldwide.

Serve with your Church | Connect with your church about short term trips they are putting on. This is a great way to serve alongside your local congregation and serve a specific missionary or ministry your church sponsors or has sent out.

Go Midterm: A midterm trip is 1 – 3 years in length and allows you to learn the local language at the beginning levels and engage in ministry alongside a long term missionary to see what life on the mission field is like.

IMB (International Mission Board) | A Journeyman’s primary responsibility is to engage in the missionary task by sharing the gospel, making disciples and helping plant churches. They are a vital part of IMB missionary teams all over the world. Serving as a Journeyman allows young adults to both be on mission and explore the possibility of lifelong service as a missionary.

ABWE | Mid-term is designed for people desiring an apprenticeship experience or seeking to complete a limited duration assignment who are serious about missions and may be open to long-term service but may not have determined their long-term calling.

Christar | Want to make an impact in an area of the world where there are few believers? Come and serve in various capacities. When? One to two years. Why? Show God’s love and care to the unreached, and with your free time you can learn the local language and impact the city through friendships.

Hands-on Training:

Radius International | Radius International is a 9 month training program for those desiring to become long-term cross-cultural church planters. Radius trains singles, couples, and families who are committed to long-term, pioneer church planting among unreached language groups. Radius students acquire spiritual, relational, emotional, and moral maturity, as well as the physical stamina that will enable them to survive the rigors of cross-cultural living.
